Leighton Meester is an American actress and singer (of Dutch ancestry) who gained fame for playing the role of Blair Waldorf in the CW young-adult television series Gossip Girl. She most recently appeared in the 2010 country drama film Country Strong and the 2011 thriller The Roommate.

She began her career in 1999 in the TV series "Law & Order" but her biggest break was the movie Hangman's Curse, based on the best-selling book by Frank Peretti, where she became a big star.

In 2009, Meester became a recording star after signing a contract to Universal Records. She released songs like "Somebody to Love" featuring R&B singer Robin Thicke, and "Your Love's a Drug" which made it to the Billboard charts.

Meester is the current star of upcoming 2011 movie "Monte Carlo" (with Selena Gomez and Katie Cassidy) and the indie romantic film "The Oranges".
