Due to economic constraints experienced in Greece, the Star Hellas pageant was postponed to September this year. Instead, the local franchisee of Miss Universe contest conducted a small casting held in Athens.
Reportedly chosen as Miss Universe Greece 2011 was Iliana Papageorgiou (photo). Although it is not yet confirmed by VP and Associates, the local franchise holder, several pageant outlets already reported that Papageorgiou, 20, will represent Greece at Miss Universe 2011 pageant to be held in Sao Paulo, Brazil on September 12.
Papageorgiou, who stands 1.77 m. tall, is a professional model. She hopes to get the second Miss Universe crown for Greece. The first and only Miss Universe from Greece so far was Corrina Tsopei, who won in 1964.
