Young actor Joseph Bitangcol is now safe after figuring in a car accident in Antipolo, his mother said on Wednesday.
"Ang humampas sa kanya ay 'yung left side ng face niya, may wakwak ang right finger. Ang initial findings ng doctor ay may fracture sa left side ng face at sa baba, kailangan yata ng operation. Pero so far ay out of danger naman," Bitangcol's mother, Lydia, said in an interview with ABS-CBN's "Showbiz News Ngayon."
Lydia also denied reports saying that her son was drunk when the incident happened.
"'Yung alam ko eh hindi [siya lasing] kasi galing siya sa taping. Noong kinakausap ko maliwanag naman siyang kausap," she said.
Bitangcol and his 5 companions were riding a Mitsubushi Montero and speeding along Sumulong Highway when a 10-wheeler truck appeared and sideswiped their vehicle, causing it to crash into a post.
They were first brought to the Amang Rodriguez Medical Center in Marikina City. Bitangcol was then transferred to the Marikina Valley Medical Center.
In a separate interview, Victor Beltran, driver of the 10-wheeler truck, denied that he was drunk and that he was driving fast when the incident happened.
He is currently under custodial investigation, said P/S Randay Amaro of the Antipolo City Police.

"Sila po ang lasing hindi po ako, pasensiya sa nangyari, wala naman pong may gusto noon. 'Yun na nga, wala akong kasalanan ako ang nakulong. Mabagal po ang takbo ng truck dahil may karga. Di po pwedeng bilisan ang takbo kapag may karga," he said.
Bitangcol entered showbiz in 2004 via ABS-CBN's reality talent search, "Star Circle Quest." He eventually left the Kapamilya network due to "misunderstandings."
He is the former boyfriend of Sandara Park, a Korean "Star Circle Quest" contestant who is know part of K-Pop sensation 2ne1.
In 2008, many were shocked when Bitangcol did a gay film with Polo Ravales.
