PAGEANT UPDATES: It's official - Dulcita Lieggi is the new Miss Republica Dominicana Universo 2012!

On April 25, 2012, Megaly Febles, franchise holder of the Miss Universe in Dominican Republic, has announced in a press conference that the new Miss Republica Dominicana Universo 2012 is Dulcita Lieggi Francisco, 22, after the original winner Carola Duran was dethroned after the organizers found out that she's married.

Lieggi, who is half-Italian, half-Dominican, will have the right to compete in Miss Universe 2012 representing her country. She previously competed in pageants such as Miss Italia Nel Mondo in 2009 and 2011.

On the other hand, according to our sources, Duran was found out to be secretly married to Emad Adl for almost three years.
